Ashenge

2006

The Second Italo-Ethiopian War (1935-1941) stands as a defining moment in Ethiopian history. “Ashenge” recounts this period through the eyes of two characters who were children during the conflict. Years later, a chance encounter with a former military figure – portrayed ambiguously as both an Italian agent (traitor) and a hero of the war – prompts them to relive their distinct experiences.

Filmed predominantly in a warehouse in Addis Ababa, Ashenge utilized then-new film technology in Ethiopia to deliver powerful and realistic depictions of the war. The film premiered in 2006 and enjoyed a four-month run in several Addis Ababa theatres.

አሸንጌ

የሁለተኛው የኢጣልያ ወረራ (1927-1933) በኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ውስጥ ወሳኝ ቦታ አለው። “አሸንጌ” የተባለው ፊልም በጦርነቱ ጊዜ ልጆች የነበሩና ከጣልያን ወግኖ ቤተሰቦቻቸውን ለስቅላትና ለእንግልት ያበቃ ባንዳ ልጆቹ ወጣት ሆነው እንደገና ሲገኛኑ ባንዳው ለሀገር የተዋጋ አርበኛ ሆኖ እራሱን ያቀረበበትና ልጆቹም እሱን እንዴት እንዳጋለጡት የሚተርክ ታሪካዊ ልበ ወለድ ነው።

ፊልሙ በአብዛኛው በትልቅ መጋዘን ውስጥ በተገነባ የፊልም ስቴጅ የተቀረጸ ሲሆን በጊዜው የነበረን ቴክኖሎጂ በመጠቀም አዳዲስ ፈጠራዎችን በፊልሙ ውስጥ ለማካተት ተሞክሯል። ፊልሙ በተለያዩ ሲኒማ ቤቶች በ1998 ለአራት ወራት ታይቷል።
