Hibret Choir / ሕብረት ኳየር
The Hibret Choir holds the distinction of being the oldest choir within the Ethiopian Evangelical Church. While its origins can be traced back to various groups 83 years ago, the choir was officially established in 1964 by the EECMY Addis Ababa Congregation. The Hibret Choir plays an important role in the church's regular services, performing on the first Sunday of every month according to the Ethiopian calendar.
Since its inception, the choir has been guided by numerous dedicated leaders, including Professor Ephrem Yisak, Gerazmach Habteab, Mr. Bahebla, Wor. Abeba Keflegzi, Professor Ezekiel Gebissa, Mr. Teke, and Mr. Daniel Mesfen.
Yonas's involvement with the Hibret Choir spans many years. Beginning as a youth singer and accompanist on the organ and piano, he later became a regular contributor through music arrangement and instrumental performance. In 2021, following the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, Yonas assumed leadership of the Hibret Choir from Mr. Daniel Mesfen, a role he continues to hold to the present day.
ሕብረት ኳየር በኢትዮጵያ ወንጌላውያን ታሪክ ውስጥ በእድሜ አንጋፋው ኳየር ነው። ኳየሩ በተለያየ መልክ ለ83 አመታት በአዲስ አበባ መካነ ኢየሱስ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ውስጥ የኖረ ቢሆንም በኦፊሳላዊ መነገድ አሁን ያለውን ስያሜ ይዞ የተቋቋመው በ1956 ነው። ኳየሩ በቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ አገልግሎት ላይ በተለይ በአራት ድምጽ የአዘማመር ዘይቤ አሁንም በንቃት አገልግሎቱን እየሰጠ ነው። ኳየሩ በኦፊሴል ከተቋቋመበት ጊዜ ጀምሮ በኳየር መሪነት በርካታ ሰወች ተሳትፈዋል፥ ፕሮፊሰር ኤፍሬም ይስሐቅ, ግራዝማች ሐብተአብ ወ/ማርያም, አቶ ባሕብላ, ወ/ሮ አበባ ክፍለእግዚ, ፕሮፌሰር ሕዝቄል ጋቢሳ, አቶ ተክኤ, እና አቶ ዳንኤል መስፍን ነበሩ።
ዮናስ በዚህ ኳየር ውስጥ ከወጣትነቱ ጀምሮ ለብዙ አመታት ተካፋይ ነበር። በኳየር ውስጥ በቴኖር ዘማሪነት፣ በፒያኖና በኦርጋን አጃቢነት፣ በሙዚቃ አቀናባሪነት (በተለይ ትላልቅ የኦርኬስትራ ቅንብሮች ኳየሩ ሲያስፈልገው) ኳየሩን አገልግሏል። በ2013 ከኮቪድ ቀውስ በኃላ ኳየሩን እንዲመራ በተጠየቀው መሰረት ከአቶ ዳኔል መስፍን ተረክቦ እስካሁን ድረስ ኡአሕብረት ኳየርን እየመራ ይገኛል።

Other Choirs
Yonas has also conducted joint choirs composed of members from various churches on different occasions, and he led the Ethiopian Lutheran Church Choir for two years. Additionally, he temporarily conducted the African Union Choir in 2020.
ሌሎች ኳየሮች
ዮናስ ሌሎችን ከተለያዩ ቤተ ክርስቲያኖች የተወጣጡ ኳየሮችን በሕብረት በተለያዩ ጊዚያት የመራ ሲሆን የሉትራን ቤተክርስቲያን በኢትዮጵያ ኳየርንም ለሁለት አመት መርቷል። በተጨማሪም የአፍሪካ ሕብረት ኳየርንም በ2012 በጊዚያዊነት መርቷል።
